Surf Life Saving New Zealand Pool Champs
With only 12 members in their squad for the 2009 NZ Surf Life Saving Pool Champs held in Wellington, Papamoa Surf Lifesaving Club did extremely well bringing home 7 Medals between them.
Georgia Aitken dominated the under 11yr Women’s Events winning gold in the 50m Brick Carry Event, Gold in the 50m Swim with Fins Event and Silver in the 50m Swim with Obstacles Event.
In the U16yrs Women’s 50m Swim with Fins Event, Rebecca Parkes won Silver with Natalie Peat winning Bronze.
Rebecca and Natalie then teamed up Jordyn Gregory and Michaela Aitken to win Gold in the U16yrs Women's 4 x 50m Obstacle Relay and Silver in the U16yrs Women 4 x 50m Medley Relay.
As an indicator of their success, consider that the girls still have two more seasons in this age group.
Congratulations go out to all the Team for what has been a fabulous return for the efforts they have put in.
Surf Life Saving Bay of Plenty Pool Champs

Hamilton
Papamoa dominated the SLSBOP Pool Champs that were held over the weekend 22 August at Hamilton, winning the event with 1408 points in total!!
All those early morning training sessions at Baywave paid off in the end with our team gaining top 3 placings in most of the given age group events.
There was a great "Papamoa team spirit" by all present on the day - competitors and their much supportive families. A great event which brought all of the Clubs' age groups together from as young as 9 years old up to those "young" Masters competitors!!!
It was awesome to see Papamoa represented by a strong and fun lot of members that supported each other throughout the day, not to mention - have a bit of a giggle at one certain Papamoa Board member (not naming anyone in particular) that proved to us all, that he was not cut out to swim in a pool and should stick to his ski!!!
Congratulations to all the Team who now move their energies andf focus towards the Surf Life Saving New Zealand Pool Champs which will be held in Wellington during the weekend 2 - 4 October. |
