PSLSC has members from all walks of life that unite with a common goal:
"TO PREVENT DEATH AND INJURY ON OUR BEACH"
This is achieved through preventative actions and rescues.
Lifeguards are also involved in medical emergencies, first aid, search operations and after hours call-outs.
PSLSC patrols a stretch of beach 14.5km long and relies heavily on "roving patrols" to cover this area.
We have some 50 volunteers that patrol weekends and public holidays during the summer period from Labour Weekend to Easter.
During the peak summer period, full time professional lifeguards also patrol the beach on weekdays.
PSLSC also has a volunteer "Call Out Rescue Squad" that is on call 24 hours a day (outside standard patrol hours) to aid in emergencies.
